Poetry Workshop: To Break and Build
Examine poetry’s role in animating the unknown and forgotten, from past to future, and from body to body in this online workshop led by poet Tim Tim Cheng.

This workshop, led by former Southbank Centre New Poets Collective member Tim Tim Cheng, focuses on developing poetry that stems from (inter)personal feelings, and the ways they could form bases of resistance.
Between generative exercises, participants read and discuss work by writers such as Lola Olufemi, Christopher Soto, Arji Mabuelpillai, and Franny Choi.
The group then gives feedback on each other’s work-in-progress in a supportive environment, asking questions on writing from one’s embeddedness in languages, events, and communities.
In particular, participants are encouraged to experiment with the hybrid form that blurs the line between prose and poetry, fiction and nonfiction, the verbal and non-verbal.
Held on Zoom, this interactive workshop is low pressure, fun and open to writers at any level.
